The requirements of GMAT
The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized test that is a prerequisite for getting admission into an MBA program. Some universities also accept the GRE test in lieu of the GMAT but GMAT remains the most widely accepted test for gaining acceptance into a top business school. The GMAT is conducted year-round and the cost to take the test is US $250. The exam is scored out of a total of 800.
The GMAT comprises a 30 minute Analytical section where the student writes one essay, a 30 minute Integrated Reasoning section, a 75 minute long Quantitative section, and a 75 minute Verbal section.
Students often ask what are the GMAT scores they need to be aiming for in order to win admission to one of the leading full-time MBA programs in the US. An analysis of the averages seen among the 20 top schools in the United States has much to reveal. Students in the MBA class of 2018 at the top three business schools in the US hold a median average GMAT score of 730. While taken together, the median scores of the top 20 schools lie between 715 to 725. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get in with a lower score. Students with scores of 560-570 have also gotten acceptances into these schools as other parts of their applications were strong.
